Welcome to ukfatdadwalking
This isn’t about speed.
It’s not about looking fit.
And it’s definitely not about lycra.
It’s about getting out the door, putting one foot in front of the other, and seeing where the path takes you.
ukfatdadwalking is a celebration of walking the UK, embracing the hills, the weather, the pubs and cafes at the end, and the honest truth that not everyone at the summit arrived effortlessly. Some of us arrived breathing heavily, smiling anyway, and wondering if we packed a chocolate treat.
Our motto says it all: NFNFNF- Not Fit. Not Fast. Not Finished.
This is walking for normal people, busy people, people with dodgy knees, full calendars, and a growing appreciation for a good quarter-zip.
Here you’ll find links to my walks, my socials, and hints and tips I’ve picked up along the way. I’ve several charity walks in 2026 raising money for Alzheimer’s, The Stroke association and MacMillan Cancer Care (Details below) so if we can have some fun, be healthy and raise some money for these fantastic causes I’m in.
Coming Up Next In 2026
Throughout the year I will be walking around the different parts of the country, either at arranged events or just regular planned walking trips, I’d love extra company or just for people to say hi. If we can raise a little money for charity along the way that would be amazing. Here are just a few but there are plenty more.

Why We Walk
Some of us need the exercise and love being outdoors “simples”… but the official line is walking enhances both physical and mental well-being while connecting us with nature and our communities.
Community, Accessibility & Wellness
Community
Our community celebrates shared experiences, local culture, and the the simplicity of walking. Most of this is through meeting people in the middle of a hike or at a Pub/Cafe sharing routes and stories. Some true and some potentially not so true …
Accessibility
Walking is a unique activity that welcomes individuals and groups of all levels. We all wish to embrace a healthier lifestyle and enjoy the benefits of being active at our own pace.
Physical & Mental Health
Regular walking boosts cardiovascular health, improves mood and reduces stress (from what I read as I’m no doctor). So if you need a 20 min break away from your work space or a full weekend walking adventure, as long as you are prepared walking surely achieves this.

Just in case you where wondering
My name is Chris
I’m not fit. I’m not fast. And I’m still not finished.
I started ukfatdadwalking as a way to get moving without turning it into a chore. No Lycra. No leaderboards. Just walking, fresh air, questionable weather, and the occasional “was this a good idea?” moment halfway up a hill.
As I have got older I have realised that it isn’t about transformation photos or smashing targets. It’s about consistency, enjoyment, and accepting that sometimes the highlight of the walk is the café or pub at the end.
It is also about family and friends, enjoying the moment and reliving many times over.
If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.
